Because the ground is carpeted with moss rather than grass, it gives the appearance of it being a model miniature when photographed. In fact, there is hardly a blade of grass to be found anywhere in this garden and that, I think, makes a stunning difference. It takes on a surreal quality, almost as though you're walking around a garden in your dreams. It's quite amazing.
