This is the lake where our hotel was situated in the middle of the Gobi Desert. Strangely it was covered in a thin layer of mosquitos. It was impossible to get anywhere near the waters edge without being eaten alive by the little blighters. The resort had thoughtfully set up boardwalks so that we could have a wander around the lake but as soon as we took a step on the wood, the flying disease carriers descended and began to munch on our flesh. What I want to know is how they managed to get there. Did they just decide to up and leave their original home and take a gamble that flying over the desert would eventually land them in a place where human skin was in plentiful supply? How did they know?
