The two different styles of tall buildings in Shanghai are showcased here; in the foreground the 1934 clock tower, very European you'll notice and a typical building of that time, dwarfed by the Rocket skyscraper in the background - a typical building of its time - seemingly erupting from the top of the clock tower, like new Shanghai pouring from the remains of old Shanghai. The Rocket, by the way, was the location of the hotel we stayed in.
