Mahjong Players in Shanghai
On almost every street corner and in parks, locals will gather and play Mahjong or cards at tables they've brought along themselves, or else on stone tables erected in certain parks for the express purpose of card or mahjong playing. People passing would gather in groups to watch the progress of games and even begin betting on the outcome of the games. It felt very similar to the New Yorkers who gather to play chess in parks and on streets.

Mom would be in heaven! You know she belongs to the National Mahjong league and plays every week. :-)

I didn't know that! Is she any good? Hannah and I want to learn how to play, so many people do it out here.

She is very good and she even has her own set of tiles. They play for money even! You should see her coin purse! I even think your Mom played a couple of times when she was over. ;-)
