We were on a cruise on the Nile in Egypt and were offered the chance to go on a hot air balloon ride over the Nile near Luxor early in the morning (for an exchange of cold, hard cash you understand). The staff roused us at the distinctly unsociable time of 5am and we were bundled into a boat and then bus to take us to the balloon site. Needless to say, as soon as the balloon got a bit of air, any lingering doubts about the early nature of the trip dissolved as we saw the sight that awaited us.
